History and Vision for Himalayan Foundation Nepal
The Himalayan Foundation Nepal (HFN) began in 2007 with the establishment of its orphanage. At HFN we believe that each child deserves a loving home and a hope for the future. Therefore, we started to provide care, shelter, and education for children. The orphanage began with 4 children and has grown to provide for 13 children, aged 4 to 15 years old.

Therefore, we started to provide care, shelter, and education for children. The orphanage began with 4 children and has grown to provide for 13 children, aged 4 to 15 years old.
Leading HFN is the founder of the organization, Debi Lal Prasain (David), who runs the
Orphanage and heads the volunteer work with the help of his family. Debi Lal Prasain (David) is
also the pastor of the local church, Himalayan Hope, which meets in the
orphanage on Saturdays. His wife Maria and his sister Mina provide general care
for the children and prepare and serve their meals. His father helps to
supervise their studies before and after school and accompanies them to school
each day. The Orphanage also employees two teachers, Roma and Suman, who
supervise the children's homework and revision sessions and play a part in
their Christian development by teaching Sunday school and leading the
fellowship at morning and evening devotionals.
HFN has grown to include a growing network of 6 orphanages in Nepal and to
provide support for local community children by funding their school fees and
the purchasing of their school books, equipment and uniforms. It has also established
a volunteer program which provides volunteers with the opportunity to work in
the Orphanage and HFN's affiliated orphanages, teach English in local schools
and provide health and sanitation education in the community and life-skills
training for women. We work together to help the community meet its local needs
in an effort to work towards the goals of the United Nations Millennium
Development Goals. HFN's associated orphanages have no religious affiliation
and therefore, HFN warmly welcomes both Christians and non-Christians from
around the world to volunteer.
Currently, the Orphanage is based in Debi Lal Prasain's (David) family home and is supporting 14
community children. HFN has a vision to increase its living space to provide
love and care for up to 50 children who need a home. HFN also hopes to expand
the number of community children they care for to 100 children.
To help achieve these ambitious goals we hope to involve many more
volunteers and have plans to extend the volunteer facilities to ensure they are
comfortable during their stay at HFN. We hope to promote the needs and
requirements for all the children through fund-raising, donations of money and
goods and much prayer!
